Statue head of Sebiumeker Kushite (Meroitic)

Traces of paint and gilding remain on this head which wears a double crown with Uraeus and sun-disc. It is likely to have come from a statue of the god Sebiumeker which stood on the east side of the doorway of Temple M282, presumably with a figure of Arensnuphis on the west. These gods, known from the later Kushite pantheon, were believed to protect a certain type of temple.
From Meroe, town.
